Mosquitos are not a great thing to have hanging around your backyard. Mosquitos are annoying, but more than that, they can cause sickness and, in some rare cases, even death. Mosquitos serve no real purpose to your landscape and, for this reason, are considered a major pest. Controlling mosquitos is a prime piece of our landscape design and, if you are having mosquito trouble, we would love to help you out. We have several options to help fight mosquitos and, whichever you choose, is completely up to you and made to fit your yard space.
The number one way to get rid of mosquitos in your yard space is to spray your yard with a dedicated mosquito killing solution. These sprays are meant to not harm any of your plants or grass, while effectively killing mosquitos and their larva. Mosquito spray can be used to blanket your yard space, making sure that every inch is taken care of. There are several different sprays on the market and we can walk you through your choices, so that you can choose whichever one you think is right for you.
Draining Stagnant Water
Another incredibly effective way to control mosquito breeding is to make sure that water is draining correctly. If you have standing water on your property, either in water traps or in flower beds, there is a very good chance that mosquitos are laying eggs in that water. In order to ensure that this doesn’t happen, we need to make sure that water is not having a chance to sit stagnant. To help with this, we can come in and drain water and also help to build irrigation channels so that water doesn’t have a chance to pool again.
A great option, that also adds a nice looking touch to your backyard space, is that of citronella torches and candles. While citronella doesn’t help to kill off mosquitos, it does help to keep them away from places that you actually want to hang out. If we strategically place torches and candles around your property, they can do a very good job at making sure that mosquitos are not a constant bother to your, your family or friends. Citronella torches are cost effective and can be refilled over and over again so that they are always able to be lit and work.
A final option for mosquito control is to hang up mosquito nets. Like citronella, nets won’t do much to eliminate mosquitos, but they will do a very good job at keeping them away from you. Mosquito nets come in all different colors and sizes and we can even get some custom made for whatever space you are trying to block. Mosquito nets can be designed to envelop an entire deck or patio, or they can be designed to simply block off certain spaces. Mosquito nets can also be taken down and put up, depending on varying weather conditions.
